All Saints Church

Newmarket

messengers

The 'Messengers' is a youthgroup at the church for ages 12 +. They were formed in September 2003 and have their own room at the church with a computer, music centre, TV and video! Soft drinks are  served during meetings. The room is due to be decorated during the spring and summer with the group designing the colour scheme. There are 6 members of the church family who work as youth leaders with the 'Messengers'.

The 'Messengers' have their own mission statement which is:- "our hope for the future"

All new members of the group are presented with their own copy of the Youth NIV bible to aid their study and relationship with God. Regular activitiesinclude bible study, watching Christian videos, listening to Christian CD's together with group discussions! The group is encouraged to look at ways of helping each other at school and in their social life. Some of the members have been active lately in setting up a ' Christian Union' on a Tuesday lunchtime at Newmarket Upper School they are also encouraged, to take on 'outreach' projects in the community. This is part of their teaching to give freely of themselves and help others. Their first project during late 2003 was to organise fund raising for the "Callum Humphries" appeal which featured in the Newmarket Journal.

In 2004 the group is linked with other young Christians from the Newmarket area by participating in an Mpower 'Youth Service' every other month on a Sunday evening. It is planned to have a different venue each time.

If you have a child aged 12 + who wants to learn more about the love of our Lord Jesus in a non threatening relaxed atmosphere together with having lots of fun as well, then contact the Rev Max Osborne for further details.
