Jesus taught his friends and disciples that the greatest commandment is to love God and worship him with all your heart, soul, body and mind. As Christians, we believe he is worthy of our love, praises and thanksgiving and we worship him as we come together in fellowship in spirit and truth. Our unity is in common with all that know Jesus Christ as Lord and it is our joy to meet regularly in church as a strong confident and worshipful community of faith.
Jesus also instructed the believers to ‘go and make disciples ‘baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.’ Our mission is to live in Christ and to share him with all that we meet in our daily lives. The mission of the church is to tell out the good news of Jesus and to help those who do not yet know him to encounter his saving power and love. We do this in his strength with all grace, humility and gentleness.
To be a disciple of Jesus is to live as his friend being thankful for all that he has done in our lives. He is our teacher, and we learn by reading the Bible and praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal his wisdom and grace. We are aware of temptation and sin in our lives and are thankful that the Lord has given us a model prayer which may follow daily to help us through the hard times and to sustain and fill us with new joy.
Believing and belonging is all part of being a disciple of Christ. We share in fellowship and celebrate our belonging most powerfully in the celebration of Holy Communion. We are called to gather at the table, to eat and drink of him and share in the peace of Christ. Where two or three are gathered Jesus is among us and we delight in the unity that his presence brings us. We believe the church is a family of God and it is our duty to love and to care for every member.
Loving and caring means serving Christ and one another, as we look to the needs of our community and the world in which we live. In serving we trust in God’s transforming and renewing power to change lives and circumstances for good. We know that all we have comes from the generosity of his Spirit and therefore we seek to be generous in our own gifts and abilities toward others and to be good stewards of His creation.
